Creating Daily Foundations for Seasonal Well-being
For over 20 years, I lived with eczema, allergies, and inflammation. Those years taught me a hard lesson: quick fixes don't last. Lasting well-being comes down to your daily foundations—nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, and informed self-care. I don't believe in hype. I believe in action and consistency.
My Approach to Seasonal Shifts
Whether I am in India, Vietnam, or the USA, I focus on the basics. I see essential oils as tools to enhance your environment and support your personal rituals. They are a simple, practical way to create a space that feels good to live in. Here is how I look at using them.
Spotlight on Essential Oils for Your Routine
dōTERRA On Guard Protective Blend
This is a staple in my rotation for its warm, spicy aroma. It is excellent for refreshing the air in a living space or office.
- Aromatic Use: I suggest diffusing this to freshen the atmosphere. It creates a clean, inviting scent in any room.
- Topical Use: Always dilute with a carrier oil first. It is great for a refreshing hand massage or applied to pulse points when you want an invigorating sensation.
Oregano Essential Oil
Oregano is intense. I use it sparingly because of its strong, herbaceous aroma.
- Aromatic Use: Diffuse it in small amounts. It is very potent, so I usually blend it with milder oils to keep the space comfortable.
- Topical Use: Heavy dilution is mandatory. I suggest using it only when well-diluted in a carrier oil for an aromatic experience on the feet.
Frankincense Essential Oil
I find this grounding. It is perfect for those moments of reflection during a busy day.
- Aromatic Use: I diffuse this when I need to create a peaceful environment for settling into a task.
- Topical Use: I find it lovely for skin care or as a comforting rub on the temples or chest when I want to feel a sense of calm.
Lemon Essential Oil
This is a non-negotiable for me. Every morning before breakfast, I add 2 drops of Lemon to my glass of water. It is a simple start to the day.
- Aromatic Use: It is bright and refreshing. I diffuse it to uplift the mood of a room.
- Topical Use: You can use it in DIY cleaning sprays for a fresh scent. Remember: Lemon is photosensitive. Keep the applied area away from direct sun for at least 12 hours.
Simple Diffuser and Care Routines
- Morning Uplift: Try 3 drops Lemon and 2 drops Frankincense in the diffuser. It is how I often start my day.
- Fresh Air: Diffuse 3-4 drops of dōTERRA On Guard to keep your workspace smelling clean.
- After-Activity Care: I am a fan of exfoliation, like a coffee scrub at least once a week, followed by a gentle aromatic rub with a drop of Frankincense mixed into lotion.
A Note on Foundations
Results come from what you do every day. If you are struggling with something like sleep, don't look for a miracle. See it as a signal to look at your foundations—like your movement or your stress management—rather than just the problem itself.
Safety and Precautions
Always consult with a professional regarding your health. Oils are for aromatic and cosmetic use only.
- Dilution: Always use a carrier oil. A 2% dilution is a safe place to start.
- Patch Testing: Always test on a small area of skin first.
- Photosensitivity: Avoid UV light for 12 hours after using Lemon topically.
- Storage: Keep oils in a cool, dark place.
